Removing Barbed Wire Pulling Fence Posts

On the 2nd Thursday of each month members of the Orinda Hiking Club have been participating in park maintenance activities in many of the East Bay Regional Parks. Since February of 2008 we have worked in Las Trampas, at Mission Peak, on the Old Moraga Ranch Trail, in Diablo Foothills Park and in Briones Regional Park. We've leveled trails, planted trees, pruned back overgrowth and taken down old barbed wire fences. It's been so much fun and so rewarding that almost everyone that has helped has been back for more.

Next Trail Maintenance Date:

We are averaging about 7 volunteers per month and would like to boost that to 10. In January 2008 about 50 members indicated that they would have an interest in participating. Now that the program is well established I am hopeful some new club members, as well as others, will elect to join us. Indicating an interest does not commit you to any particular level of participation. Like our hikes, you come when you want to.

Each month, a few days prior to the 2nd Thursday, I email a description of the task we are being asked to do and the location. This is directed only to those who have expressed an interest in this program. If you would like to get on that distribution list, just contact me.
